Did someone say free food? Taco Bell offers free tacos to vaccinated Californians
Free tacos are now available for the more than 70% of Californians who have had at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Taco Bell announced earlier this week it will be giving out free tacos to customers who show their COVID-19 vaccination cards. This giveaway is part of California’s Vax for the Win program, which is an effort to get more Californians vaccinated by offering cash, free food and other prizes.
The fast-food chain said in a news release it decided to join the state’s efforts because they hope to help make sure key groups, like younger people, are vaccinated.
“It’s been a tough year, and we are all ready to put COVID-19 behind us,” said Mark King, CEO of Taco Bell in a statement. “We are thrilled to do our part and give back to our home state with something everyone knows and loves to celebrate those who have made the decision to get vaccinated.”

This deal is available on June 15, and customers can get the beef Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Tacos at participating California Taco Bell locations. Customers are only required to have at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
In a similar effort last year, Taco Bell gave away free tacos and donated millions to No Kid Hungry.
The Vax for the Win program has also partnered with Chipotle to offer free queso blanco, and is offering special deals on merchandise from the LA Clippers and Golden State Warriors.
