Spain is a popular British holiday destination and is quickly becoming the go-to nation for holiday homes. According to the Office of National Statistics, around 293,500 Britons lived in Spain in 2017. Of the 69 percent of Britons living in the EU, 37 percent lived in sunny Spain.
Despite Covid and Brexit uncertainty, Britons are still attracted to buying property in Spain.
But where can you buy an affordable property in Spain?
The country has ten islands including the Balearics and the Canary Islands, and a plethora of stunning beach locations.
You can even snap up an apartment in a resort for as little as €50,000 (£43,782), according to A Place in The Sun’s website.
Now, A Place in the Sun presenter Laura Hamilton has revealed to Express.co.uk where you can find the most affordable property in Spain.
“Obviously, the Costa del Sol is the most expensive,” Laura said.
She continued: “Marbella, Puerto Banús, Sotogrande – that’s expensive.
“But if you travel further away, if you go towards Gibraltar, then it does become slightly cheaper.

“Then, if you head out in the other direction you’ve got the Costa Blanca.
“The Costa Blanca can still be quite pricey, not as expensive as the Costa del Sol but places around Denia and Xabia they are quite expensive and upmarket.
“But if you head further up towards the coast, I always think one of the most beautiful places in Spain is Valencia and along that coast line.
“The city is fantastic, the countryside inland is beautiful – you’ll get excellent value for money there.”
Laura also recommended the area around Almeria and said the region has a relatively new airport which gives homeowners the chance to travel to other regions in Spain.
The region of Murcia, located in southeastern Spain on the Mediterranean coastline, is also another good property hotspot.
Laura continued: “Mojácar is an incredibly popular place to buy.
“You’ve got Mojácar Playa, Mojácar Pueblo, which is a lovely old town up in the hills, and then you’ve got a beautiful beach.
“It can be quite pricey. There’s lots of Scandinavians there along with Britons.
“But if you head 20 minutes out of town, to a place called Vera, property becomes a bit more affordable.”
Laura said homeowners who are willing to have a car and be further away from beaches and more touristy towns are likely to find cheaper properties.
A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at 3pm on Channel 4.
