Born in Portsmouth, the tv and radio star Amanda Holden grew up in Bishop’s Walton before finding success on stage and on screen. The 51-year-old is one of a number of famous people to have called the market town home. When she is not working at Heart Breakfast, flying around the globe to film television series, or taking part in Australian daytime soaps, the tv star calls Surrey home.
Amanda currently resides in a multi-million pound mansion she shares with her husband, Chris Hughes and their two daughters – Alexa and Hollie.
Rarely seen alongside her at events, Chris met Amanda 19 years ago and the couple married in 2008.
The couple splashed out £3.5million on the Surrey mansion back in 2015 and no expense was spared in kitting out their luxurious pad, including the pair spending £34,000 on their living room.
The mansion boasts a swimming pool as well as a lavish outdoor space including a love Island style fire pit, palm trees and landscaped shrubbery and trees to give a sleek and stylish feel to the mansion’s garden.
Located in the South East of England, Surrey borders Greater London, Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, and Berkshire and is divided into 11 boroughs and districts.
All of the county’s regions have something unique to offer, whether that be from their vibrant historic market towns, scenic landscapes or local produce.
Surrey has long been known to offer excellent options to those seeking a place to live that offers a speedy commute into London so it’s no wonder Amanda chose this as a place to settle down with her family.
Along with the fast transport connections, Surrey also boasts an array of exemplary schooling options, beautiful homes, pretty villages, affluent towns and of course all set in stunning countryside.

The reason why properties are typically pricier here is because incomes tend to be higher and it has a notably lower crime rate and better quality of life.
For those looking to move to the South East, then they will be getting more bang for your buck property wise in Surrey than in London zones. Not only that but you will find larger, more attractive properties with gardens and access to green living space aplenty.
According to Rightmove, properties in Surrey had an overall average house price of £628,821 over the last year.
The majority of sales in Surrey during the last year were detached properties, selling for an average price of £1,053,435. Semi-detached properties sold for an average of £554,609, with flats fetching £303,120.
Overall, sold prices in Surrey over the last year were four percent up on the previous year and 17 percent up on the 2019 peak of £537,723.
Recently, it has been reported that Amanda and her husband have put their Surrey property up for sale for £5million, despite previously describing it as their “forever home” and admitted to “badgering” the former owner to sell it, according to the Sun.
This came as a result of the tv star losing her battle with planners to build a granny annexe complete with a “chill” area.
The couple had been given the go-ahead for the garden room and car port at their five-bedroom pad which boasts its own bar and hot tub. They then submitted revised plans for the proposed annexe, moving it just a few feet nearer to the property’s northern and western boundaries to allow for a bigger vehicle turning circle.
But officials at the local council refused to grant planning permission for Amanda’s home improvements, claiming it could harm the roots of nearby trees in the designated conservation area.
They did however concede that it would not detract from the setting of the Grade II listed 18th Century house next door, and there were no objections from neighbours.
In a heritage statement, Amanda’s planning agent said: “The garden room will be used ancillary to the main dwelling and will consist of a small kitchenette, shower room and dressing area.
“Whilst the primary function of the garden room will not be for sleeping accommodation, there will be times when the applicant’s family visit and they will use this in an annexe capacity.
“Whilst the outbuilding will not be physically attached, it would have a clear functional relationship with the host dwelling and, given the proposed siting within the site, clearly demonstrates that independent use would be difficult and undesirable.”
The proposed building would have been split in two with a bed and sitting/chill area in the garden room and a car port for the couple’s treasured VW camper which they have used for cosy date nights.
Following the council’s decision, Amanda is now trying to sell her home and make a £1.5million profit after giving it a showbiz makeover including a huge living room and stylish kitchen.
