Cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch, whose real name is Sophie Hinchliffe, rose to fame on social media. Her clever cleaning hacks have earned her more than four million followers on Instagram.
Now, cleaning fans have formed their own groups on social media dedicated to sharing tried and tested methods for sprucing up a home.
Facebook user Helen Rooke sought advice on an effective technique for cleaning windows that didn’t leave streak marks.
Responding to the post, Natalie Ripley recommended: “Dettol spray and a microfibres cloth, comes out amazing and no streaks.”
Norma Charles commented: “Half water with half white vinegar in a spray bottle. Micro cloth to clean after spraying, then polish with a window cloth (ecloth).”
Emma Kellah posted: “I use soapy water and then dry with a newspaper sheet in a circular motion. Never have any streaks.”
Karen Crawford advised: “Washing up liquid and water, then Karcher window vacuum – job done in seconds.”
Karen Holton posted: “Old fashioned Pink Windowlene, it never fails and won’t smear as long as you leave it to dry. Then it simply buffs off.”
Michelle Cox suggested using black tea to clean the windows.

Annemarie Morris Conway recommended: “Bar Keepers Friend powder, but wipe with kitchen roll. It’s fantastic on windows.”
Rebecca Steele said: “Window spray from Aldi’s and kitchen roll works wonders even on shower screens.”
“Glass cloth and Aldi glass cleaner,” suggested Claire Griffiths.
Rachel Tongs posted: “Screen wash you put in your car. Just think how clean it gets your windscreen with just a few wipes from your wipers.

“I pour it into a spray bottle, It’s amazing on windows and mirrors – no smears.”
Kim Pearce advised: “Warm water newspaper and white vinegar.”
Zoe Hurst recommended using Dettol spray to spruce up windows.
Describing a technique which had proven effective, Paula Hooper advised: “I use either my H20e3 or I use a car wax polish, the type you just spray on, wipe with a damp cloth and then buff with a dry micro cloth and it’s done quicker by this method as you’re not forever wiping to get smears out.
“By using this I don’t need to clean my windows as often and I also use it on my mirrors, in the bathroom and kitchen – it’s effortless.”
Catherine Hastings posted: “Water with washing up liquid give a good wash and then use a rubber squeegy like window cleaners use – no smears.”
Jenny Watson advised: “Vinegar and a dash of fairy liquid in hot water. Oh, and make sure your cloth you are using hasn’t been in the washing machine and had conditioner on it.”
While Lynne Murphy Dickson recommended: “Window e cloths, just use water with the thin one and dry with the other. The best things I have ever used.”
