Elon Musk misses prized 4/20 launch for mission which had 'special meaning'

ELON Musk's Crew-4 mission was scheduled to head the International Space Station on 4/20, a day widely celebrated as a pot-smoking holiday.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO is notably a fan of online, gimmicky marijuana culture.

Musk loves numbers – two of them in particular: 69 and 420.

The billionaire's birthday comes 69 days after 4/20, a fact he points out annually on Twitter.

Doubtlessly, Musk is disappointed with the news that SpaceX's Crew-4 mission to the International Space Station has been delayed, crushing Musk's chances to see a launch on 4/20 of this year.

The Crew-4 mission will ferry supplies to the ISS for a scientific expedition.

The Crew-4 mission will blast off in the Falcon 9 rocket, SpaceX's darling ship that has made 146 total launches to date.

Once in space, the crew will cruise to the ISS in the Crew Dragon Freedom – a brand new space capsule never flown before.

Freedom will dock at the ISS autonomously, where the four-person crew will swap out with the seven-person team currently manning the space station.

The astronauts are in isolation as they prepare for an April 23 launch – three days after Musk's favorite date on the calendar.

In 2018, Musk famously smoked weed on camera while speaking on Joe Rogan's podcast, generating scores of memes and online quips.

Reporting by Gizmodo found that the seemingly harmless smoke session actually had considerable consequences.

SpaceX is intertwined with the US Military through government contracts – and government bureaucrats were greatly unhappy with Musk's decision to toke on air.

Nasa put SpaceX and other collaborators through a $5million dollar "safety audit and cultural review" in the aftermath.

Musk later told 60 Minutes' Leslie Stahl that he is not a regular pot-smoker, and said he does not know "how to smoke anything, really."

Though Tesla's stock price took a hit at the time and he drew the ire of government collaborators, Musk has since laughed off the incident.

He recently tweeted the iconic picture of himself smoking with Joe Rogan with the caption "Twitter's next board meeting is gonna be lit" – the tweet racked up over 1million likes.
