Thursday marks the start of an important stretch for video game fans.

The Summer Game Fest, streaming live on both YouTube and Twitch, will host a kickoff event during which several video game announcements will be revealed.

The Summer Game Fest precedes the Electronic Entertainment Expo, which returns after a year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, the event will be online only with a variety of briefings from companies including Microsoft and Nintendo.

June is a critical month for the industry, as gamers await what new titles will grace their Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch consoles this holiday and beyond.
